Om Telolet Om - A Trend Goes Viral Overnight

Random News - Anyone who has already taken a look at the social media platforms on the morning of December 21, 2016 will hardly have gotten around. Several DJs, including Martin Garrix, Zedd, DJ Snake, or The Chainsmokers shared posts on this subject. On YouTube, the comments are flooded with this exclamation and also producers such as Hardwell and Ummet Ozcan liked it and mixed the whole thing off. But now the following question arises:

What exactly does Om Telolet Om mean?

Literally translated "Mr. horn with your horn Mr." ... sounds stupid at first, but in combination with the background, this illuminates relatively quickly. And so far mostly Indonesian youngsters write this wording on a piece of cardboard and keep it on the roadside in the air until a bus passes, which is thus prompted to horn and usually performs this in the form of a melody. A certain melody was strong and can be heard in a large part of the videos as well as remixes.

The whole stitch should show only at the beginning that by damn little effort and time a strong entertainment factor and much joy can be developed, but now the hype floods the whole network, which brings us to the next point. (Also read: Armed Mannequin Challenge)

Where does the hype come from?

Already in November 2016 appeared that, we call it "Meme" on Facebook. This was a group of children who watched the scheme in Ngabul on Java. It polarized in advance almost not at all and it was assumed that it was only locally a little amused and for the time being came not much afterwards. Still, the video was gradually divided and more and more liked the pretext "You do not need much money to be happy, just wait for the bus and ask him for a horn", with which the video continued to rock and Zedd with a Twitter post in the night to the 21st of December 2016 brought the stone rolling.

It did not take long and some DJs also posted the exclamation. But this should not be the case. Still at night Dillon produced Francis, Firebeatz and Ummet Ozcan remixes. The latter made himself with a pinch of black humor the fun and showed in the video bus accidents and "funny" bus shots.

Can there be problems?

Apart from popular confusion, the police are calling on the trend. On the one hand there was traffic jams and the volume of the horns is probably not to be underestimated, since this varies from bus to bus and in particular from country to country. Furthermore it is understandably not advisable to wait for hours on the roadside on a bus, which means that this trend has no relation to the PenPineapple Apples or Will Greeks.

Conclusion: The hype is currently greater than ever; We can wait and see how the whole thing develops. Maybe we'll get a series of entertaining productions. Whether some incidents give the trend still a bland flavor is also conceivable. But the biggest question is probably how far "Om Telolet Om" is overshadowed, or despite the attention of well-known DJs is only spread in Asia.
